The Just for Women Centre in Stanley offers a Crafting to Wellness program for women facing serious mental illness, trauma, high anxiety, or social isolation. Through creative therapy, they help women improve their well-being and cope with challenges. The centre also provides other services like counselling, domestic abuse support, and training opportunities. Additionally, they’ve turned crafting into a cottage industry, selling quilt and cushion covers, soft furnishings, and teddy bears to support their services
The centre provides a range of services including Crafting to Wellness, which helps women with serious mental illness, trauma, high anxieties, and social isolation. Additionally, they support survivors of abuse, offer counselling services, and work with female offenders in a safe, non-judgmental environment. Our Crafting to Wellness workshop works with different tools and methods to help ease any form of mental health and also brings those who attend closer by listening and showing support while each tell their own stories or just have general conversations around mental health, women’s health or past trauma.
Why our Crafting to Wellness is very special to the Just for Women centre as many of our women have anted the workshop for many years, have left with more confidence, self-esteem and even made new long-lasting friendships. Thank you to the Health Lottery for supporting this very special project/workshop as this has a big impact on women’s and young girl’s mental health and their lifestyle for the future.
