From last winter in 2023 the Just for Women hosted a special project to help and take care of their local community in Stanley by providing warm packs and duvets to help those vulnerable keep warm during our harsh winter seasons. Debra who is manger of the Just for Women Centre and main host for this project organised and arranged each pack and duvets to be delivered to various primary schools, specific organisation and homes for these packed to be delivered with the help of National Lotter Community Fund which they supported this special cause.
The packs and duvets were hand delivered by Debra and Colin who is the center’s volunteer driver which each rounds were organised through via telephone or email from schools and organisations that knew which families and individuals were vulnerable for them to give out and provide each one to support them in their homes. The Just for Women team managed to cover nearly the north of Durham making sure that each families received each pack and duvet, this couldn’t be possible without the help of all the amazing volunteers, organisations, those that got involved and the support from the National Lotter Community Fund, thank you.
Letter from the founder
I would just like to say a big THANK YOU to The National Lottery Community Fund that funded us for the Warm Duvet Project this has been a great success and a pleasure to organise. Thanks to the generous support we have been able to reach out to hundreds of beneficiaries in County Durham providing Duvets, pillows, warm packs, craft packs, essential personal hygiene packs Hot soup and drinks from our Tearoom and much more. We have now been able to partner with so many organisations to help distribute to our communities in some cases young people helping to go to the doors of those needing these packs Well done. Can I just say a big THANK YOU to our Debbie who always gives 100% with these projects going further afield to deliver with her driver Colin van packed and off they would go in all weathers they are both stars. Also gratitude to National lottery players ‘Our Heartfelt Thanks ‘ go to them, their contributions have helped the success of the Just For Women Centre and made a difference to the lives of those we serve. These are just a few of the wonderful testimonial’s we have received from some of the organisations we have been involved with.

“Dear Linda, Debbie and Kearna (Just for Woman Centre, Stanley)
Thank you so much for your generous donations to Burnside Family
Centre, the quilts, pillows and wellbeing packs.
Your donations will allow us to support members of the community who
need it the most and will make a real impact on residents that are
financially struggling. The wellbeing packs, I know, will lift their
spirits and show that ‘people care’
Your generous donations are greatly appreciated and will be put to good use.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to all involved.
With appreciation, from Burnside Family Centre.”
