Jubilee Garden Party On the 2nd of June 2022 the Just for Women Centre hosted a Jubilee Garden party to celebrate the Queen’s 70th reign on the throne and also to announce some big news. The party was based at the Centre were all the volunteers, partnerships and special guests were invited to celebrate the day along with performers, raffles, crafts, competitions, food along with hot and cold drinks from their Tea Room that was set to be open the week after. Whilst the blazing heat from the sun was being generous to us on this event, we wanted to announce some very exciting news that we had to be kept quiet for a while. Mark White and Shona attended the garden party to not only make a speech on the many accomplishments that the Just for Women Centre have but to also award the team with the Queens Award, what an honor it was. On the 28th of September the Just for Women team attended Northumbria in Bloom 2022 at Gates Head Newcastle Tyne and Wear where Debbie was shortlisted for Small Business where she had been working extremely hard throughout the spring. From renovating the whole garden, planting and assemble a seating area under our plumb tree for the centre’s clients and staff to enjoy and relax whilst on a break. Although Debbie dedicated most of her free time on this project, volunteers and individuals helped and supported her through harsh weather conditions such as our 40c heat wave from July-August, this did not stop Debbie. Once the team had arrived, they were presented with their table and received hot drink and food throughout the award ceremony, while waiting for our category the team mixed and networked with other business and organisation that also attended NIB which was a great opportunity for them to mix and grow. Finally, the category for Small Business was up, anxiously waiting was Debbie and the team as they knew how hard she had been working and put lots of dedication towards this project. First stage – Ramside Hall On 9th of June 2022 Linda and the JFW Team where nominated for the category “Heart of the Community” for this years Northeast Business awards which was held at the Ramside Hall. This gave the team the opportunity to get glitzed and glammed with their hair and makeup done ready to take on the ceremony (and hopefully their award). Once the team had arrived they were greeted with a glass each of fizz at the doors and all manage to take a few photos before entering the main hall where they would all be seated. Once the team had found their table they all got the chance to mingle with other business that attended and also faces that they knew. Once the ceremony finally started the team took their seats and waited anxiously but patently for the category to come up. After celebrating other wins the team’s category for Heart of the Community came up, Linda sitting anxiously while watching the centre’s presentation being presented on screen it was finally the moment where the winner was about to be announced. . . . and they won!
