Mental Health Services

At the Just for Women Centre, we are committed to delivering compassionate and comprehensive mental health support for individuals within our community. Our services are specifically designed to address the distinctive needs of women and young girls, offering a safe and welcoming environment where they can seek assistance and find comfort. We provide a range of programs including individual counselling, support groups, and workshops aimed at empowering women and young girls while promoting mental well-being. Our experienced and dedicated staff work diligently to ensure that every woman feels heard, valued, and supported in their journey toward improved mental health. By fostering a sense of community and understanding, we strive to dismantle the barriers that often prevent women from seeking necessary help and to cultivate an environment conducive to their thriving. In addition to our specialized services for women, the Just for Women Centre also extends support to young people, men, and families, ensuring the entire community has access to the mental health resources and assistance they require.

Susan
Susan approached our centre following the tragic loss of her son to suicide. She benefited from counselling and participated in various workshops aimed at improving her mental health and coping with her son's death. In 2023, Susan enrolled in the Thread Bare programme for mental health support and expressed a desire to volunteer within the centre. After extensive training in areas such as mental health, food handling, health and safety, and several other courses, Susan began volunteering in crafting workshops and contributed to the tearoom by washing dishes and assisting with food preparation. Over several months of dedicated volunteering and training, Susan became an integral part of the tearoom team and has now transitioned to a paid part-time staff member. In addition to her part-time role, she continues to volunteer, aiding in other workshops and providing support to women in need.
